AVAL DOSA / RICE FLAKES DOSA

Dosas are favourite breakfast item in South India.We never get tired of eating dosas.Without compromising taste, texture etc a variety aval dosa / rice flakes dosa for all . Aval / rice flakes is used in many recipes all over india.This one is well known for its low caloric value and a good source of instant energy.

And about brown rice, it is rich in selenium, manganese and promotes weight loss. This instant energy breakfast is very well suitable for weight watchers.


INGREDIENTS

Brown  rice                                         - 3 cups
Rice flakes                                           - 1 cup
Green chillies                                     - 5 nos
Asafetida powder                            - 2 pinches
Sour curds                                           - 1 to 11/2 cups
Salt                                                         -to taste





METHOD

Wash and soak rice in water for three hours.
Soak rice flakes in sour curds for three hours .
Grind rice, green chillies, asafetida and  rice flakes together .
Ferment the batter for five hours and  preapare dosas.
Heat a  tawa and pour dosa batter like rawa dosa, drizzle a tsp of til oil around the edges of dosa and roast both the  sides of the dosa. 
Aval dosa is ready to serve.


NOTES

Since we are using curd to soak the riceflakes, 4 to 5 hours is  enough for  the batter to ferment.
If you are residing in a cold place,  you have to ferment the batter for 10 to 15 hours.
Don't stack the dosas, one on top of the other when hot, they will stick to each other.
