KADA CHAKKA 65 (BREAD FRUIT 65)


Welcome the summer season with our jack fruits and bread fruits. Breadfruit is one such vegetable that you will get in this summer season. The breadfruit is similar in appearance to theJack fruit. Some people don't know how to prepare this tasty vegetable. It is called “KADA CHAKKA” in Malayalam. Breadfruit is a rich source of dietary fiber and is rich in energy
And minerals. We can prepare lot of dishes with this bread fruit. But I have tried something unique starter snack with this,Kada chekka 65 (Bread fruit 65) . Kids love this as a snack item.




INGREDIENTS FOR MARINATION

Bread fruit                        - 200 gms (chopped into square pieces)
Rice flour                          - 3 tbsps
Besan/gram flour                        - 1 tbsp
 Corn starch                     - 2 tbsps
 Green chili paste             – 1 tsp
 Ginger garlic paste         – 1 tsp
 Kashmiri red chili powder – ½ tsp
 Garam masala powder   – ½ tsp
Aam choor powder          - ¼ tsp
Water                                – 4 tbsps
Oil                                     -for frying
Salt                                    - to taste

SEASONING FOR KADACHAKKA 65

Chopped onions               – ½ cup
Red chilies                                   – 3 nos
Chopped ginger               - ½ tsp
 Chopped garlic                - ½ tsp
Curry leaves                     - 1 sprig
Dry red chilies                  - 2 nos
Mustard seeds                 - ½ tsp(optional)
Salt                                    - 2 pinches
Oil                                     - 2 tbsps





METHOD TO PREPARE THE MARINATION

Mix  rice flour,  besan/gram flour and  corn starch in a mixing bowl.
Mix  green chili paste,  garlic paste, ginger paste,  red chili powder, garam masala powder and lime juice. also add salt as required.
Add 4 tbsp water. whisk to a smooth paste..
Add the bread fruit pieces.
gently mix the bread fruit cubes with the batter. cover and allow to marinate for about 15 to 20 minutes.

METHOD FOR PREPARING BREAD FRUIT 65

Heat  5 tbsp oil in a pan. coat the bread fruit cubes with the batter and add them to the hot oil.
Flip and fry the other side till the bread fruit  cubes become crisp and golden.
.Drain the bread fruit and keep aside.
In the same pan, heat 2 tsp oil. add ½ tsp mustard seeds, chopped ginger, chopped garlic, dry red chilies and curry leaves. 
Add 3 tbsp chopped onions. stir and saute the onions till they turn translucent.
add salt.
stir well. add the fried bread fruit cubes.
Mix and toss the bread fruit cubes and garnish with onion slices.
Serve Kada chakka 65 (Bread fruit 65) hot as as a starter or with some chapatis, naan or tandoori rotis.
