THINAI / FOXTAIL MILLET, MULTIGRAIN FLOUR MURUKKU / CHAKKLI


During diwali almost most of them would make murukku/chakli at home. Homemade's are best at anytime.This Diwali I tried my hands with home made multigrain flour and Thinai / foxtail millet muruku. The thinai murukku and multigrain flour murukku which would taste better than our usual murukkus and a healthy snack too.For sure you all love  the taste of  the snack . Enjoy this Diwali with this healthy snack.












INGREDIENTS
Thinai maavu [Foxtail millet flour]  / Home made multigrain flour           – ½ cup
Rice flour                                                                 – ¼ cup
Roasted gram [pottukadalai, porikadalai] – 2 tbsp
Gram flour                                                              – 1 tbsp
Red chilli powder                                                 – 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds                                                         – 1 tbsp
Asafetida                                                                -a pinch
Ghee                                                                       – 1 tbsp
Oil                                                                            -for deep frying
Salt                                                                          -to taste
Warm Water                                                        -as needed

METHOD

Dry roast the foxtail millet till nice aroma comes and powder it finely in a blender.
In a mixer jar add roasted gram grind to smooth powder then sieve it to avoid lumps.
In a bowl add foxtail millet flour, rice flour, gram flour, pottu kadalai podi/ powder, asafetida, cumin seeds, salt & ghee mix well
Then add warm water mix well, knead it & make soft dough [It should be soft & non sticky].
Pour ¼ tsp of oil cover it & keep it aside.
Heat enough oil in a pan, take murukku press then fill the prepared dough in a muruku kuzhal & just press out or squeeze over the laddle & deep fry till crisp on medium hot oil.
Flip over & fry another side till it turns golden brown colour.
Take it out & drain on absorbent paper.
Leave it for room temperature .Then store in an airtight container
Healthy Thinai / foxtail millet murukku is ready to serve,
