KOLLU DOSA / MUDIRA DOSA / HORSE GRAM DOSA

 Horse gram/ Mudira / kollu  very nutrious and also has lot of medicinal values. Kollu / mudira /horsegram is a low fat food and is ideal for people who like to diet or lose weight. This  regulates our body temperature in winter.
 I tried something different with horse gram. Horsegram/ Mudira Dosa. Horse gram soaked and grounded to a batter form along with urad dal makes this dosa very crispy and slightly brownish in color. This dish can be be prepared with less effort.
INGREDIENTS
Raw rice / hand pounded rice                                 - 2 cups
Horse gram/ kollu / mudira                                      - 2 cups
Urad dal                                                                            - 4 tbsp
Methi seeds                                                                  - 1/2 tbsp
Asafoetida                                                                     - 1/2 tbsp
Salt                                                                                      - to taste
Gingelly oil                                                                    – to prepare dosas




METHOD
Wash and soak raw rice / hand pounded rice, horse gram, urad dal and methi seeds together for about two hours..
Grind to a fine batter adding asafoetida and salt
Let  it ferment for two hours.
Heat a tawa and spread the batter as for  dosai.
Drizzle gingelly oil and allow it to cook till the dosai turns golden brown.
Remove from tawa and serve with chutney powder or any other accompaniments.
VARIATIONS

You can add small onions, red chillies, garlic curry leaves, coriander leaves while grinding to make spicy kollu dosas.
