Preparing healthy , filling and a different variety breakfast each day is a daunting task These dosas are a nice variation to regular dosas. Unlike the regular dosa, tomato dosa doesn't need any fermentation . The tomato dosas have got a gorgeous colour along with amazing flavours.They actually don't need any side dish too.
This dosa gives you the earthy flavour, something like tangy, sweety, and spicy taste.
Tomatoes are excellent source of the strong antioxidant vitamin C and other antioxidants, it can help combat the formation of free radicals known to cause cancer.
Raw rice - 1 ¼ cups
Red gram dhal - 3 tbsps
Tomatoes -1/4 kg
Grated jaggery - 1 to 2 tbsps
Red chillies 5 nos
Asafetida - 2 pinches
Small onions - 10 nos ( optional )
Curry leaves - a handfull
Salt - to taste
Wash & soak rice and dal together in water for two hours .
Grind rice, dhal, tomatoes, jaggery and red chillies together .
Add salt and asafoetida powder and mix well.
Preapare dosa immediately after grinding .
Heat a tawa and pour one ladle of batter in circular motion and fill the centre with the batter.(like rawa dosa.)
Drizzle a tsp of oil around dosa.
When its cooked turn the dosa over the other side and cook for a minute.
Tomato dosa is ready to serve.
