SPICY RAJMA CURRY






Ingredients

Rajma                               -                  250 gm
Sodabicarbonate            -                  1 pinch
Turmeric powder           -                  1/4 tsp
Big tomatoes                   -                  4nos
Tomato puree                 -                  1 cup
Onions                              -                  3 nos
Ginger                              -                  1 inch piece finely chopped
Red chilly powder          -                  1 ½ tsp
Powdered cumin seed   -                  1 tsp
Garam masala powder  -                  1 tsp
Aamchoor powder         -                  2 tsp
Green chillies                  -                  4 nos finely chopped
Ginger, garlic paste        -                  2 tsp
Salt                                    -                  as required
Oil                                      -                  1 tsp
Cumin seed                      -                  1/2 tsp



METHOD

·        Wash and soak rajma for 8 hrs overnight with little soda.
·        Wash again and pressure cook for 10-15 min.
·        In a frying pan heat oil and add cumin seeds.
·        Add finely chopped onion, ginger, green chillies and fry till onions are soft and transparent
·        Add finely chopped tomatoes and fry till oil leaves the sides
·        Add garlic  ginger paste, aamchoor powder, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masla powder, jeera powder and tomato puree.
·        Add salt to taste. Add the cooked rajma let it simmer till the gravy is thickened.
·        Garnish with coriander leaves and remove from the heat.
·        Serve hot with parathas, pulao etc.
