COCONUT CHUTNEY IDLI

Bored of idlis , then try out this coconut chutney idlis for a change. You don’t need any accompaniments for this idlis.


INGREDIENTS

Boiled rice                                                                    - ½ cup
Raw rice                                                         - ½ cup
Urad dhal                                                                - 1 cup
Sour curd                                                                 - ¾ cup
Salt                                                                            - to taste




 OTHER INGREDIENTS

Crushed pepper                                                          - 1 tbsp
Crushed cumin seeds                                                  - 1 tbsp

FOR WET GRINDING

Green chillies                                                              - 6 nos (finely chopped)
Coconut gratings                                                         - ¼ cup
Small onions                                                            - 2 nos

Grind the above ingredients to a smooth paste.

Gingelly oil                                                     - for greasing the idli moulds






METHOD
Wash both rice and urad dhal and soak for about  five to six hours.
Grind coarsely adding enough water and salt .
Keep for fermentation over night .
Mix all the other ingredients  and the ground coconut paste to the batter and mix well.
Pour the batter in a well greased idli moulds and steam for 20 to 30 minutes.. When cooked, remove from flame.
Coconut chutney idli is ready to serve.
Serve hot with sambar.
