Idli is a popular breakfast
especially in Southern India. Idlis are small fermented cakes usually savory
made using rice and urad dhal , rava / semolina etc and steamed. They are served with coconut chutney
and a spicy lentil soup called Sambhar
I thought of some
different dish with our traditional idlis for the breakfast ,why not Idlis with
Chocolates and a dash of chillies.So I
decided to make rava idlis with chocolate and chilli together.

INGREDIENTS
Fried Rava -
½ cup
Curd - ¼ cup
Powdered
sugar - ¼ cup
Cocoa
powder - 6 tbsps ( reduce the quantity of coco powder if you don't want too much chocolaty)
vanilla
essence - ½ tsp
Butter
- 3 tsps
Baking
soda - ½ tsp
Chilli
powder - a pinch
crushed
carlic - 1 clove (optional)
Water - 5 Tbsp ( if needed add or less
few tsps less)

FOR GARNISHING
Chilli
flakes - 1 tsp
METHOD
Add water in the idli steamer and allow it to boil.
Meanwhile In a bowl, add all the ingredients including
butter and mix until evenly mixed.
The consistency of the batter should be neither too thick
and nor too thin.
Once water is boiling in steamer. Grease the idli moulds
with butter and pour batter in the moulds.
Place the batter filled idli plate inside the steamer. Let it steam for 10-12 minutes.
( When you insert a tooth pick into the center of the idlis it should come out clean, if it has batter sticking to it then steam for a few more minutes)
- Switch off the flame; open the steamer and take the moulds out.
Sprinkle some water on the cooked chocolate idlis and keep for sometime .
After few minutes remove from the idli moulds and
transfer in to a serving bowl and garnish it with red chilli flakes.
Serve hot.
Yummy sweety spicy chilli chocolate rava idli is ready to serve.
